CHIODO, Joe
.
Born and raised in San Jose, Chiodo found art to be his passion at an early age. Being pretty quiet an individual, he traveled to various places such
as New York and Los Angeles, where he worked for a diverse client base, doing book covers and interiors, calendars, poster works and others for numerous
purposes, among which toy and gaming companies and comics, eventually settling in San Diego.
From colors, to pencils, to paints, Chiodo has incorporated many forms of illustration. He was nominated in 1997 for the Favorite Colorist Award by the
magazine Comics' Buyer's Guide. Since then he has continued to paint and create comics, covers, and how-to books, and teaches art classes at Watts Atelier
of the arts in Encinitas, Ca.
His traditional paintings keep my absolute favorites out of his works, among which his good girl and comic derived arts.
Inventor of a soft but sexy immediately recognizable style on ladies, capable of producing from fairly simple to much more complex range of works, yet
staying in the crossroads of cartoony, comic and pinupy visions, and always using a magical color palette to create stunning visuals, a whole bunch of
Chiodo's arts keep unexplainably utterly joy-appealing to me to stare at : I'm just like a kid before his pinups (!!).
