ORTIZ, Richard

When I stumbled accross Richard's first works for Avatar Press on Lady Death, I was shortly stopped by his super attractive and very accurate take on the character (and on some other bad girls actually, like the War Angel).
You know he got this ability to somewhat modernize it without loosing an ounce of its essence... and maybe - if possible - making her hotter than before.

Plus a gift on expression rendering. He did these two issues 'Lady Death : The Wicked' I'm absolutely devotious about from start to end.
Good unusual (plus supra well written/mounted) story, and served by to me Ortiz's most exemplar piece of artwork so far on every character, from first to last page in the two books... they really stay a reference to me.

Staying interested by his other works too (Richard also works onto french comics), remains that his athletic run on our yet kept bodacious Lady really hooked me, as well as some of his "introductions", like exceptional 'Art Nouveau' covers, to mention just these. Will keep looking for his first (2005-2007) Lady Death originals....
