White Queen Unused Cover #1 by Randy Green (6 Comments)

The two pieces in my collection for which I bothered by very far the most numerous people ! ^^
Both linked pieces are unused covers for a White Queen mini-series project eventually abandoned by Marvel in the process. As you may know if familiar with Randy Green's deviantART page, the arts seem to have been 'lost' for long by Marvel staff, who weren't able to find 'em back for return to Randy and Rick Ketcham despite their request. While all hope was definitely lost for long, an unexpected happy conclusion happened for Marvel people seem to have recovered the arts during their offices moving to the Sports Illustrated Building in late 2010...

Randy Green and Rick Ketcham produced these two covers and Drew Johnson drew close to 3 issues of interiors subsequently inked by Ketcham before the project was cancelled. No wonder these unpublished interior pages must probably be quite a ball to glimpse too (!).

I'm absolutely in love with both cover arts because of the spirit Mr. Green manages to render fully on Emma Frost : very femme fatale and ice-cold terrific.. and also strongly because I of course adore the idea of playing with her alias in the literal sense to produce a still more characteristic depiction of her !
- The fact of being since teenage strongly addicted to chess surely plays a role. ;)

I just HAD to make my best to find track of these arts, which was one of my goals right when starting collecting afew years back. Endless thanks to Mr. Green for granting me the opportunity to reach the goal in the end !! ^^
